what conditions do you go top down in?
I love going top down so on even the slightest bit of nice weather, you can find me w/ my top off, letting her lull me and melt me.
In NY it was 56 degrees and sunny after a monsoon in the morning. I enjoyed myself. Generally speaking, when I am desperately awaiting Sping, I can be found w/ my top off at temperatures as low as 45. What about you? I know some people are picky. |
Dude ,
I am in the same way, but i have to say Vegas is much warmer than NY, I can go top down 10 months out the year, lowest day time temp around 60. Move down here and you' ll enjoy the convertible much, much more ! Roberto. |

Also it probably isn't as humid over there, so warm temperatures will be tolerable, whereas when it's 80 in NY, it feels like 110. Oh well. I love NY :D |
Since I don't have heated seats, 60 (maybe 57) degrees or warmer is "top down". No rain please ;)
|
a lot of people say that anything under 50 you are running a chance of damaginf your top (mechanically and tears in plastic window if you have one )
just drove trough lots of snow, so  hehehe, damn chicago |
I go at 50 and sunny, or 60 and regular to regularish, lol.
|
I only put the top up if it hits 30 or below. Just throw on a sweater, beenie & turn up the heater.
|
Yeah. Blast the heat, turn on the seat heaters and you're good to go. Just think of it as a big ass window :D
Seat heaters do help a lot, as does a wind deflector. |
50 or below is my cutoff. I have a very low tolerance for cold, so I just physically can't take much colder than that.
I'm such a goober though... I specifically bought a pair of aviator sunglasses to where when I have the top down. It just looks so cool, haha. |
I am always top down except if I get caught in rain.
With the heated seats, great heater system and the windstop I have driven hundreds of miles at 43 degrees. |

Presuming you're a female... Females tend to have a lower tolerance for cold temperatures, so we won't hold it against you  Today it's 55 again. TOP DOWN! |

I am surprised that your cut-off is 50 then. Seems a bit cold given your situation. You must really love top-down driving.
I usually never see ladies w/ their tops off (I mean down) unless it's 75-80 degrees out. |

(trying to remember when Rochester had 60 degree weather in the morning...)
Joking. I used to live upstate so I know how it is :D Going to go drive around aimlessly now. |
Topless
I have driven my 2000 since August 2004 and only had the top up three times, when caught in the rain. Isn't California weather the greatest! Temperature extremes have been 110 and 49.
|
As my name suggests I rarely drive my Box with top up. Rain... She stays tucked in the garage under her blanket so she doesn't get her feet wet. Below 50 is rare here but the top may go up. Long freeway drives at 70 mph the wind just beats the top of my head so I may go top up, window down.
|
50 is my cutoff
|
Any temperature above freezing as long as it's nice and sunny. Heated seats and wind deflector really help.
|
Only had my Boxster since the end of December, so I don't have a summer under my belt yet.
I'm finding that if it's above 70 and sunny, I'm comfortable. Once it gets below 70, if it's in the high 60s and sunny, I can leave the top down. Colder than that, or not sunny, and it's a little cool for my tastes, especially for freeway driving. When it comes to summer... around here, it gets HOT. Summers have been milder in the last few years, with highs in the mid to high 90s, rarely in the low 100s. A LOT of sun... not sure if I'd go topless if it were 98 and sunny. The good thing is, I work evenings, so when I get out of work on summer nights, it's usually very nice... I could go topless when leaving work, no problemo! |
