scratch on windscreen
Does anyone know what type of product and where can I buy it. I need to try to remove a couple of scratches from my windscreen.
It wasn't a good idea to put my beach chair behind my seat....:( |
Go to Google and put in "scratch polish for aircraft windows. It will lead you to the correct place
asenoff :D |
Could probably use that stuff in the infomercial that clear coats over light & deep scratches on sunglasses
|
I have been using this stuff for scratches on my Harley for a couple of years :
http://www.novuspolish.com/ Use the #3 if it is really bad, and then the #2 to finish up... ( works great on Ipod scratches as well ! ) Hope this helps... Nick |
Nick,
do you have all 3 of those? is it required to use a lot? i dont really wanna buy all 3 for maybe just a few drops, i have some scratches on both windows and windshield |
I ordered the Novus kit. It comes w/#1,#2,#3. #1 is a cleaner.
For only 16 bucks...Should be receiving it soon. Can't wait to try it out. I hope it works... |
Nick -
Have you tried this on the rear plastic window? |
djomlas / Travis,
I sent you both a PM but I thought I would share with the group as well... Novus works great on plastic, but will not work on real glass. I use Plexus to clean the rear window. I intend to pick up some Renovo for the scratches this year ( thanks for the suggestions, Perfectlap ! ) Nick |
Ordered the 3 8oz package off eBay and tried just #1 & #2 on the back window.
 WOW!! It cleaned the "white fog" that appears along the fold line at each side and in the middle along with some of the scratches. (Plexus never could get that fog look out) Will go with #3 followed up by #2 again this weekend for more of a detailed job, but just wanted to say thanks Nick for the link. Quote:

Would this also work to remove scratches on the plastic bumper?
|
My thought would be no for the following reasons:
1. The bumper is not plastic but polyurethane or fiberglass mix if aftermarket 2. Your bumper is painted and followed up with clear-coat But hey it might work since it is a mild abrasive cleaner, but I would think you would want to use a polish or rubbing compound designed for clear-coat and try to buff it out. just my .02, not an expert on the matter by far ;) Here is a link that may be of help. http://www.paintcare-n-detailing.com/ |

Awesome ! I was scared to try the Novus on my back plastic window ( I have the "white fog" as well ) - looks like I will put my order for Renovo on hold and give the Novus a shot come spring. Thanks for being the guinea pig on this one ! I have used Novus on the trunk of my car ( I had some minor scratches from taking the speed humps off ) and it worked great. Not sure of the bumper, though, since I am pretty sure it is made out of a different material ? Nick |

How do you like the Plexus for your rear window? I've heard this stuff is the best from many sources. I tried it, and i got decent results, but its not as clear as I'd like. Perhaps I'm going about the application/removal wrong. How were your results and how did you apply/remove? |
How's this for oddness:
There is a HAIR... INSIDE my windscreen!! Yes... it's not stuck to the inside, or the outside... it's IN the glass! Given it's a laminate, someone lost a strand. It's about 1.5" long, in the top driver's side position... probably light brown... If I bought the car new, I probably would have had them replace the glass... just because it annoys me sometime... hehehe |

I have been using the Plexus for cleaning the rear plastic window for some time now. It seems to do a good job, and leaves the plastic very soft and pliable. It doesn't seem to help much with the clouding, though, that is what I might try the Renovo or the Novus. I spray the Plexus on a soft white cotton towel, clean the window, then I use another towel to remove the residue. Hope this helps... Nick |

That is crazy odd! are you sure its not a deep scratch with brown dirt collected in it. Do you see a root? |
