Valentine 1 Group Buy!

How many of you want to be part of the group buy of valentine 1's. The price on their website is 399 so thats a base line. I will also post on the cayman forum and I suggest you post on other forums (be it non Porsche) and put the links here. I am hoping for a massive turn out and maybe we can get a good price on a V1.

I also think this should be made a sticky.

I already PMed renntech.org and caymanclub.net, so hopefully I will hear from V1 sometime soon.

boggtown 02-22-2007 01:45 PM

renntech said that I could make a post and see if people wanted to be a part of it. Im still waiting to see if I can post on cayman club.

good luck, group buys seem to work only with smaller vendors and a few Porsche dealers who are active on some of the forums.
Definitely worth a try but if cost is an issue I'd go with the equally good Escort.
The last thing you want is a ticket while waiting for that $40 or $50 discount.
The V1 is definitely worth every nickel.

Ya, I know odds are low, but even free shipping would help.

Count me in if it can be had for a good price.

boggtown 02-23-2007 06:33 AM

V1 said they dont do anything for group discounts. He said he could get me one for $360 so I guess I will do that. I will keep trying to get a free remote display or something.

Perfectlap 02-23-2007 06:38 AM

10% discount aint bad at all.

986 Girl 02-23-2007 06:53 AM

As was mentioned before, v1 doesn't do any sort of group discount (I should know, I'm in the radar detector business).

However, you can call them up to find out if they have any refurbished models in stock. These will typically be as good as new with the the most updated software, but run you about $50 cheaper than a brand new one.

i have an escort, and me and my buddy were going to get his new car, so we took both, V1 and Escort, and had them both on at the same time, the reaction time was better on the V1, but i would have to say it was a veryyyy small fraction of a second...if that, so i really dont see the extra money worth it, unless you really care where the cop will come from to give you a ticket.
all i do is when it goes off i slow down as fast as i can, i really dont care where he/she is.
heck, just yesterday it saved me 4 times :)

boggtown 02-23-2007 11:01 AM

:( I just gave in and bought one. Cost me 365 shipped. It will leave monday. Im still looking to buy a remote display so hit me up. At least its a better price than ebay, some people are wanting $440 for a regular one without the remote display. Just crazy.

Both are excellent no doubt.
The extra money is for the (1)arrows which after years of driving with detectors, is a BIG convenience. Once you've passed the threat you know it and can quit looking in the mirrors for that phantom trooper. (2) the v1's ability to pick up lazer from a trailing vehicle (tropper following you from behind, a few cars back) at
a higher rate than any other detector. This is a nearly impossible thing for nearly all detectors to do at all yet I've seen more than a few tests where the only one in the test to manage detecting a trailing threat was the V1.

on the downside it looks like the 1st Atari video game console and its more sensitive (more false alerts). But I don't think either is a bad thing.

Is this group buy going anywhere? I am getting ready to buy one very soon.

boggtown 03-08-2007 03:05 PM

No, they shut me down on my offer. I got mine for 360 though. Ask for an "R" unit. They only had one in stock when I got mine so I got it, you might be lucky. Its perfect condition, not the tiniest scratch.
