Windows don't go up when top is up

Developed a new problem Sunday.

The windows function perfectly when the top is down.

I can lower the windows when the top is up and locked in place, but I cannot raise them!

I don't often drive this car in the rain, but I do need to be able to keep the interior dry and safe from theives when out.

I did a search on "windows" and found no thread describing this problem.

What's gone out that needs replacing?

Make sure your light indicating the top is fully up has gone out. If that doesn't work, you might want to post this over on RENNTECH - they specialize in this kind of info

Just thought I'd give everyone an update on this problem...

Heard that if you put the key in the driver's door and hold it to the right for five seconds, it rolls up your windows for you. I put the top up and was able to successfully get both windows to raise fully.

Must be a microswitch that disables window switches if top is not secure that's gone out.

Duh!!! Figured out the problem. Don't I feel like an idiot!

Thought I'd post the solution here so when other new boxster owners have the same problem they'll be able to read why this happened...

The center latch receptacle in the top of the windshield area just in front of the map light has a switch inside it, which is actuated by the metal hook that you must squarely seat inside before locking down the top.

I had not fully seated the hook, and the switch, therefore, had not been fully depressed.

I figured this out when I put the top up this morning. YEAH! No need to take it to the shop for this anyway.
