How to change AIR Filter on Boxster 2.5????
 

Hi friends!!!!

I´m new in the Boxster world (i have a 98 2.5 Boxster since 1 month ago. I´m looking to change the filter (or filtersss ??) air, and i´m not sure, Where is it???
Could you help me with this? Has anyone any picture of the lows of the car where i could to see the filter??

I want to do the change but, i don´t see it.

The US owners manual show how to get into the engine compartment. Check your manual and see if it has instructions.

The air filter is where the yellow X is.

I'm going to replace the stock filter with the BMC in a few days. Is it fairly quick and painless to to swap out the old filter? What's the best way to to get the left engine grill out so I can desnork? I heard it was a pain and I saw some instructions somewhere else but they seemed way to complex. How hard could it be?

Once you can see the engine, the air filter is exposed and easy to access. Good instructions in the owners manual.

Have a vacuum handy to pick up grit that falls to the bottom of the airbox after removing the filter.

Why do you want to remove the air tube for the air box? Sound?

But...its only one air filter??? i think that there are two filters...one on the right and one on the left lateral.

I´m going to see on the manual again, but in my manual there isn´t any graphic to change the air filter.

There is only one air filter. On the drivers side.

MMM. something is different about my engine grill toolpants. Mine is all one piece and painted. It has a phillips screw near the opening of the grill going up into the body. I took out the screw but the grill is still in there pretty good. I didn't want to go pulling on it to hard without really knowing what I was doing. I don't see anything else holding in the grill. Maybe it is a friction fit perhaps???? I'm thinking they may have changed the grill design for 03. Anyone have any thoughts on this? And yes I wanted to take out the snorkle for more sound. Anyone ever desnork an 03???

I´m still trying to change the air filter. Someones of your, speak about the "owners manual instructions" in my "Spanish Owner manual" don´t say nothing about it. Do you know if its posible to see it on a electronic copy?.

Its imposible to me, open the "Motor BOX", i couldn´t to open the cover of the top...because, " i don´t know" how to open it.

Yes...i´m trying to change the Air filter, and first to remove the engine cover....but i´m not sure how to do it.

Its the yellow one, who i must to unplug from the cover...no?

After you put the top in the service position, turn the four black locks on the carpet and remove it. The engine cover is right there, just turn the screws to unlock the cover and remove it. Becareful it might be hot.

ufff...i don´t be sure, that its the Yellow the one , that i must to unplug....on this picture, i could to see, that the RED one, y who i must to unplug no????

I was told that if you replace the air filter with an aftermarket one(say K&N) that it will damage the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Is that correct?

acamachobadajoz, it doesn't matter which end you pull off becuase both can come off.

We separate the ball joint where you have the red line because it is easier. We do not separate the ball joint where you have the yellow line.

The bottom one is easier, and it will be one less thing to get in your way as it swings up with the top.

I have been running a K&N without any issues, I also have de-snorkled without issues.

K&N first then, sometime later De-snorked...

Just be careful with the amount of oil, be reasonable, I believe this is the culprit behind the K&N not working for people.

I did not really notice anything from my pants of the seat dyno from the K&N but I did notice some improvement from the De-snork...

The MAS is so close to the air filter, and it gets bombarded with oil when applied in excess.

If you are leery about the K&N and want the deeper sound, remove the foam from the stock filter.

I run K&N on everything, without any problems.

YES!!!! this past weekend i had change my air filter (i´m going to do a picture album to share the change filter how to do..).
