Sounds nice. Here in the UK you get 3 months of sunshine and then, if you really want to drive your Boxster for the rest of the year, you have to put the roof up!

Atlanta, Georgia Independent Porsche Repair Shop
There are only two dealerships in the entire state of Georgia and they are a stone's throw from each other on the north end of the state.
Cali Auto is just south of Atlanta and the closest shop to where the new Porsche corporate headquarters will be. They are the cleanest, most professional shop I know and have serviced my Boxster. They do pre-purchase inspections, are the absolute best at replacing convertible tops (did mine), and are actually involved in racing Boxsters as well!
Look them up if you are in or out of state - fantastic shop!!!

Need a good knowledgeable 97 Porsche Boxster mechanic in Riverside county, CA
I am not a professional mechanic but for sure have an aptitude and not totally consumed time wise either but my handicapped is that I am not equipped with proper tools.
Most likely the problem is cam chain and guides according to my self diagnosis which is as follows:
The engine has been making faint screeching noise initially on cranking for several months. ( procrastination not ignorance on my behalf )
Starting the engine gradually would require few cranks ( I changed the starter motor- problem persist )
Rough idling and engine cutting off on low rpm every time I would come to a stop (5 speed trans ).
Now it needs ATTENTION... why, because CEL shows up and something must be done before the SMOG check creeps on me
Got checked on scanner found out one side is miss firing or not firing at certain times.
After evaluating all these gradual conditions and deterioration I figured the culprit has to be the cam chain rattling due to the possible wearing of plastic guides and loosening the chain which causes the timing to go off.
I need a mechanic that won't sizzle my skin or require my first born . Maybe I can work with them at their convenience and make it our little project. Please advise and help.
pardon my netiquette since I just joined the forum today and this is my first post.

In Ottawa as well. Great to see other owners around. If you want to go for a cruise at anytime just shout. I will PM you my info.
Regarding a good mechanic in Ottawa the best two options are:
- Autobahn Tuning. They are in Manotick. The owner, Todd, is a great guy and 100% honest. He does what needs to get done and not what gives him the most money.
When I need something beyond our tools, knowledge or during winter we bring the car there. Again amazing guy and very knowledgeable (was in one of Jake Raby classes).
- Chris Kirby. Another top notch guy. Not as close as Todd but top notch resource.
I will PM you their phone numbers.

Looking for mechanic in Wake Forest, NC area
I am new to this group. I just bought a 2006 Boxster a few weeks ago with 32000 miles. Looking for a mechanic/garage (Raleigh or Wake Forest, NC area) to handle any potential issues I may run into. I don't mind if it's a mechanic that works out of his/her private garage. Just as long as they are trustworthy and do good work at a reasonable price. Thank you.

Cincinnati - I'm pretty pleased with Porsche of the Village
I have owned my 04 Boxster S for about two months. I bought it from out-of-state and drove it home. I originally took it to the local dealership to get a new key remote. They were very helpful and invited me to come in and spend some time with a technician going over my car and teaching me about it.
I was able to take them up on their offer yesterday. The technician spent two hours with me going over all key parts of the car, explaining vulnerabilities and thoroughly evaluateing the vehicle. He topped off all fluids, found a nail in the tire which he repaired at no cost, recommended alignment because of some cupping in the back tires. Except for the alignment he found nothing wrong with the car and commented very positively on how well it has been maintained. He also had a '13 Boxster S up on another lift and showed me some of the differences in technology that 10 years will make.
All in all, it deepened my appreciation for this car and I was very impressed with the level of knowledge and customer service of Porsche of the Village.

I've been very pleased with the service provided by NW Imports in Austin, TX. The Porsche racing mechanic near me recommended them when he conducted the PPI on the 2002 Boxster I wound up buying. I've subsequently been to them twice and have been very very satisfied with their expertise and service:

Give 'em a try if you're in the Austin area!

@mstephensfache:
You have several good options in Cincy. I have also been to Porsche of the Village (POV) and agree with everything you say. Nice people and they do very good work.
Another option if you want to save a few bucks on labor charges about 45 minutes east of Cincy in Batavia is Wright Motorsports. These guys come at Porsche repairs from an entirely different angle. Repairs are their side business. Their main line of business is building race cars. (3rd in class at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona). While POV caters to the county club crowd. these guys cater to the motorheads. Back in the Spring I chose them over POV to replace my clutch, flywheel, RMS and IMSB. They did great work. When it came down to settle up they were cheaper on labor than POV and gave me an invoice itemized down to the bolts on the flywheel. Plus I figured if they could build a car that could hold up to the 24 hours of Daytona they would do a good job my DD. As an added bonus when I picked up my car they took me back in the garage and showed me around the 3 cars they were prepping for a race at Sebring, including Kristin Treager's (The Car Guy Show) famous White Tiger GT/3. I kick myself for not bringing a camera, too cool.
All said either way POV or WM you have two great options.
