Keys for Boxster

Hello,

Does anyone know if Boxster keys are transferable? It seems that they have different "cut" paterns on them ... is that important? or can the dealer reprogram them?

... I am currently looking at getting another key while trying to avoid the dealer premium fee!

A new key isn't even a dealer item - it's a factory special order.

Theoretically you have 3 choices - 1) Order from the dealer, 2) replace all the locks and keys from a salvage set with more keys , 3) buy another Boxster with more keys.

Practically - Your only choice is to go to the dealer.

Ad,

... from time to time there are some up on Ebay ... do you think those can be reprogrammed?

Individual keys, I don't think so.

Even if they could work, I wouldn't want to support a gray market in hot Porsche keys.

How does one get an expensive key to a car that you don't need or rightfully owe to someone else?

I won't buy Litronics from a stranger for the same reason. Your gain is likely to be another owners pain.
