Rear Diffusers
I am thinking about going with these and have used the search and read the threads.
Can anyone give me some direction of where to get them? Is this about the price and what I'm looking for? Thanks! |
I just purchased a strut brace from Maxspeed Motorsports, $179 for carbon fiber. Cheapest I could find. Same guys that sell the difuser your looking at. Delivery was quick and the brace was in excellent condition, but it doesn't fit. I'm exchanging emails with them now to figure out what's wrong.
I guess my point is they're responsive and did have the cheapest price. I'm hoping I didn't get what I paid for. Depending on how my current fit problems turns out, I plan on buying the difuser you're looking at from these guys. |
There used to be a carbon fiber diffuser on ebay, now I can't find it. I think the price was $379 or something like that. I've heard of fiberglass pieces such as the side skirts and rear diffuser cracking, any truth to this? If that's the case the carbon fiber one's would be the better buy as carbon fiber is alot stronger than fiberglass.

they are just cosmetic pieces, they will not see any strength tests i dont think
|
I have seen a number of Boxsters here with them, hopefully they can share where they got them. I don't want to make a quality mistake.

ok ...ok.... I bought a pair of those!
Now if I would do it again.... nope! Bought them from the same folks, and they shipped fast and what they said they would, no issues there.... But they are what they are "Fiberglass" I have had mine on for almost a month and they have gone down hill quite fast, first with installing them you need to make sure they fit flush on your bumper (which they do not) then of course paint and mount, which is a pain to reach the nut. Then after installing and driving around (during winter and salt/dirt on the road) they have gotten pitted & chipped. And sort of look like crap. If I had to do it over I think I would go another route (Polyurethane) Oh and make sure to not tighten the bolts (fiberglass cracks real easy  ) |
Travis it snows in Texas you are kidding right.
|
Not snow, but cold enough to ice over some of the bridges.
We (Texans) think it is an Anti-Texan plot hatched by folks in Montreal !!! Now close your door so it can get warm here again. :D And yes when it gets below 60 degree's here the news reports it as a "Cold Wave" Quote:

"We (Texans)"
Travis, you moved from Southern California last year. Since when did you become a naturalized Texan? I think you have to live in our great state for a lot longer than that to be naturalized. I've lived here 40 years and my wife, who was born in Texas says I'm still a "damn yankee" <-- born in Harrisburg, PA... home of 3 mile island. |
Front or Rear?

Did you buy the front or rear strut brace? There are 2 you know. Could be you are mixing the 2 up or they did not specify which one they are selling. I to have ordered some stuff from them before with no problems. I have the carbon fiber diffusers on my car which I ordered from them. Pain in the as to get them on without removing the bumper. But I got them on. :D |
It's the front strut brace. Tried to insall them just like the picture on their web site and others, but there is no way it's going to fit.

Other possible rear ends....
You could always buy the type "S" rear bumper which looks like it comes molded with the diffusers onto it. Or you could try these other ones. I like these better personally. I'm not sure about the cost.

Actually I moved "Back" to Texas ;)
(Besides... California, Arizona and New Mexico is still part of Texas right?) And before being re-admitted I was able to take (and pass) the Texan Nationality Test (TNT) http://www.gotoquiz.com/how_texan_are_you :D Quote:

Bite your tongue, Travis. New Mexico is NOT part of Texas!!!! :p
- Native New Mexican here. |
I like this bumper alot. Gemballa North America used to sell them on ebay but, I'm not finding any of their auctions now. I think they were around $700 on ebay.

Another alternative REAR bumper/diffuser
I found this one recently. Its very new, and it looks like it just covers up the bottom half of your rear bumper, like a lip. Not sure of the cost. Here is the pic and web site. This one is ONE PIECE, looks like a nice blend of the regular bumper and diffuser combined. You can thank me later. :D

Anyone know of a source for no fiberglass? What modifications would you have to do for a '03 to fit, or would it? |
I like the kokeln one.
http://www.kokeln.com/images/undertray.jpg I would have bought it if my bypass valves werent there. It will work as a real diffuser, not just cosmetic. |
