Help me!

Just found this forum and hope it helps me out. I've been thinking about a Boxster S for quite some time now and need a few honest reasons why I should buy one. It will have to used because my funds are limited to $30-$35k. I've owned many sports cars including 2 Lotus ('66 Elan and '91 Elan) and currently have a '93 Miata (don't laugh). I work for Garrett Turbochargers so adding a Turbo to the Miata and having 220 wheel hp and 500 lbs lighter than the Boxster S at a total investment of $15k is very attractive. However never having owned a Porsche and knowing the reputation is also very attractive. I'm not the kind of person who wants a Porsche to be cool, I just love to drive and want a car that will make me want to drive it every day. So give some reasons!:D

It's just a great car! One of the few really GREAT roadsters out there in that price range.

Not to put down the Miata, but it's simply not even close to being in the same league as the Boxster. Different animals.

So go and drive a Boxster S and let it convince you that it is all it is cracked up to be. I think that will help with your decision.

2.5 years ago while shopping for a convertible, I drove everything out there - probably 25-30 different convertibles ranging from 70s Ferrari 308 to the present.

Since I love cornering in my daily driver, - I bought the Boxster S with Factory tuned suspension.

If convertible had not been a requirement, I would have probably chosen something less expensive and more tossable.

I rejected various cars for various reasons. For example, my shoulders don't fit comfortably in a Miata and I refuse to go on a 200-300 mile joyride with a bent spine. The Viper had a wing in the center of the rear view mirror and was almost impossible (for me) to control when you push it. The BMW M3 had great power, but the convertible M3 was a lead sled. etc.

We all have our reasons for our cars.

It seems like you like small, light, fun, and good lines - I'd say a Boxster fits the bill. Having had your fill of the Miata (admit it), I think you need to get into another car you can fall in love with, a Boxster is just that kind of car.

A turbo 2.7 or header/intake/ECU'd 3.2 Boxster gives you Lotus performance, Miata reliability, and Jaguar sensuality.

If you just want to have fun, and don't need the convertible, the WRX STI drivers and Z06 drivers also seem to love their cars.

Yah, I love Roadsters (I've had 10 so far) and the Miata is a little small for me. I guess i need to get my butt down to a dealer and test drive one.

It is simply the one of the coolest convertibles around!!! ... It makes you happy to drive ... as they say, "there is no substitute!"
