New owner saying hi

Just picked up my first Porsche, a '98 Boxster at the urging of my wife. I gave up on cars and autocrossing a while back to focus on motorcycles and really missed having a cage that was fun to drive. I guess she got tired of me complaining about living with FWD.

Bought it from the original owner who got "lucky" and had the engine replaced by Porsche when it failed on him at 24k miles (car has 64k on the body now). I figured that's the best way to get an early boxster, right? They had the problem sorted out by '01 when the did his repair.... I hope.

It's totally stock at the moment and likely to stay that way for a while other than some clear lenses. First I need to find the limits of what it's got the way it is before I think about tweaking.

Howdy, and WELCOME aboard. There are some really nice folks here, and plenty with good senses of humor.

BTW, aren't we all glad Porsche finally figured out THE RIGHT PLACE TO PUT THE ENGINE? :):):)

Yea, tell that to the wife. During the first ride she said "why is the engine so loud?" and "what is that whining noise?". I tried to convince her you pay extra for that noise!

Snapping shifts at red line while out running a 540i through the twisties... maybe it was a bit much for her first ride in the toy. She got sick about 20 minutes into the run, but claims to have enjoyed it.
