Recent statements from Wendelin Wiedeking, ex-Porsche maestro, and now VW kingpin, indicate VW will dump Bugatti and Lamborghini, thus leaving Porsche as the sole up-market brand in the Porsche/VW house.
All that remains is for Audi to be "rationalized" into the medium-price brand, and the consolidation of Ferdinand Porsche's legacy will be complete. I wouldn't be at all surprised if "Auto Union" was resurrected from the scrap-heap of history to replace the Audi nameplate in some fashion.
