Sun Shade

Which one is best, how much and where to buy?

I bought the two piece bendable/foldable generic shades from Kragen and they actually work darn well, match right up with the window size. I think it was like $17.99 ish. No they don't have the flame design on them.

Wal-Mart has a great selection of sun shades.

I purchased a cover for the entire soft-top. It covers the windshield as well so it keeps the heat outta the car and the bird poop off the vinyl. Someone on ebay was selling them.

Just another thought...

This would be great except for the times you have to park outside in public because it might get stolen.

True, but, they only cost about $60 and they "lock" into the edge near the rear trunk lid. So it can't be taken, unless they did damage to the trunk lid.

Hmmm...that might be something to consider....

Great, you really need both, IMHO.

The collapsable shades from Wal Mart are great for about $8. There are good for a quick stop or a long stop. You can store it under your drivers seat.

The convertible top cover is a little more involved to use. I have used mine a few times with great success, and for periods of outdoor exposure, when parked, of 4 or more hours. Less than that, I just use the sunshades.

When you say collapsible, do you mean the ones that are like an accordion or the one thats round that opens up? Which size fits best for our cars?

By the way, what do you guys think of the OEM Porsche Sun Shade for boxsters?

buster356 01-08-2007 04:16 PM

I have both the OEM sunshade and the convertible car cover.
OEM sunsahe is nice, a little to thick to fold up other then the way Porsche wants you to. I use it for short trips away from the car. I store it standing upright behind the psgr seat.
The convertible cover I use when I leave the car out all day. It is much easier to wash the cover then the top and it does have a cloth covered dowel or something that goes under the leading edge of the rear trunk. The only problem I have is with the side straps that go through the door handles. On windy days the velcro straps rub, requiring me to buff out the area between the door handle and the window. But that is much easier then cleaning bird pooo off the top.

Hope that help

The round-ish ones.
