Which of the costly optional equipment would you pay for next time?

The Forum has probably been there and done this several times before, but for other newbies like myself I thought it might be of interest to hear peoples comments on which of the costly Porsche optional equipment one would spring for "next time". Please let me qualify my remarks by noting that I've only had the car for a month. Here it goes:

Heated Seats: Luv them here in NY to extend the top down period or just a simple heated back "massage"

Sound Package Plus: OK, not outstanding, obviously better sound on CDs than the radio; the lack of a rear speaker is a flaw IMHO

Auto Climate: A must; can you believe that in a $50K car you can't just "set the temp and forget" without paying for this option

18" S Wheels: The 17" inch standard wheels weren't making it for me; i sprang for the 18" S wheels and luv the look

Sport Seats: Very comfortable for the average to smaller size person as the side bolsters really protrude to grip in the turns; I think a big person would have trouble fitting their back in these

Bi Xenon Headlamps: Here in deer infested NY these lights are great for illuminating the "sides of the road" to improve the visibility of critters that might jump/run into the road. It feels like there is a lampshade on top of the car controlling the field of illumination. Thumbs up.

Glass rear window

Optional vs Standard

For the `07 the heated glass rear window is "standard"; so is a 50K or 4yr warranty. If your next chariot is purchased "new" you'll get both.

I purchased new, I still went with the extended warranty.....piece of mind...also I would get rims, bose, heated seats and windstop, I also would get white face gauges if given the chance, and yes the xenons are amazing for deer

Exactly. Next time I'll get into a newer model... Plenty more costly.

The only option in my mind that is a must have for Boxsters are 18" wheels. When I went from 17" to 18" it was like taking the car from good to great handling wise. Who cares about the rest of the luxury options,it's a darn sports car not a Mercedes. All the other mods, RoW kits, more power, aluminuim this alumalok that, better sounding stereos can be added later.

I bought preowned, so I could have done more homework and started with 2003 models for the glass rear window.

18" inch wheels would be nice too, but I can always do that myself.

I'd have to admit I'd go with a tiptronic next time round. I bought my 99 boxster as a second car but I liked it so much it became my daily driver. In Dallas traffic shifting get's a little old in grid lock.

Tiptronic?! I believe that is a bad word in German....

I bought pre-owned, and found the Boxster I got has a lot of the optional equipment... so I wouldn't change too much. I would like better speakers/audio, although I do have an aftermarket head unit in my car.

The only thing I am missing is Heated Seats!! I miss those.
Maybe onboard computer would be cool as well... but not necessary.
I do like the Porsche crest in the headrest too.

A roof. Wait....that means I'd own a Cayman.

I agree I'm glad my car has a pretty "pure" spec with no cruise, full power seats, or PSM, but I wish it had the M030 suspension. If it was a DD maybe I'd feel differently though.

Mine came with:
Arctic Silver paint
Heated seats
Bose Premium Sound Package with bass speaker between seats
Bi-Xeon
Sport shifter
"S" 18" wheels Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
Windstop (between & behind seats)
Self-Dim Mirrors and Rain Sensor
Sound Package Plus
Floor Mats in Interior Color
Sport Chrono package
Roll bar in exterior color
Sport Steering Wheel Leather

I may have forgotten something, but that's pretty well it.

I added:
Extended warranty (7 yr 100K mi, $0 ded if serviced at dealership, free loaner..Cayenne)
ArmorCoat Clear Bra
SSR GT-10 wheels with Continental ContiPro Winter tires
Hardtop

Not much would I add....I just think if I had another $12K at time of purchase I'd have bought an "S"!!

Items I am very glad to have are similar to most others:
Bi-Xeons, heated seats, windstop, hardtop, self dimming outside mirrors.

Hope to never need warranty! :D
