Infiniti SUV lighting systems don't cause the problems....it is their cruise systems which have an adaptive system that uses laser. Even when cruise isnt on, the laser is and will set off a V1, interestingly my V1 goes off alot for them, but my X50 never does, but then again the V1 also detects police laser much better. Also some of the newer neon brake lights (alot of suvs) sets it off too....its not that bad though. they are both great detectors, as is the Rx65, and STi both from bel

Just a heads up, you should never test RD's with more than one on in a car at a time, they interfere with each other and skew the results. Annoying but true

Radar works well if you are not the only one on the road. I have gotten a ticket before with a radar detector. If there is no one in front of you for the radar to bounce off of and warn you, then the only thing the radar will let you know is that you have been nailed and should prepare to pull over soon

Self Installed SR7

Since I have not seen too many comments on these, my assumption is that they are not widely used.

I think they are so few and far between is the price, there is a lot more you can do for $1,600.00+. I found a new SR7 +shifters on fleabay ($650.00) and did the install myself. It was probabley the toughest install I have ever done., considering you are running wires from bumber to bumber.

I have had no experience with V1's but have an 8500 and an 8500 X50. The X50 was a noticible improvement from the regular 8500, while the SR7 is and the X50 are very close.

I have a picture of the install, but the server is limiting the file size, so I can't upload it. I cut out the bezel rectangle in the bow tie under the HVAC in the center console. For a while the Escort site has a custom instal in a Boxster.

After it was all done, I'm extreemly happy with the look and performance of the SR7. The only change is to add the optional external speaker for when the top is down, so you can hear it, since it is a little out of your line of sight.

What do you guys think about something like this http://www.radarscramblers.com/product_C450.htm ? Its the new version of what I have now which is the phantom 2 . Its supposted to scramble radar and laser, and although you never know if it works in 5 years having had a lamborghini, ferraris, viper, porsches, I've never had ONE speeding ticket!!! ::knocks on wood:: although my phantom 2 is on its last legs and I'm gonna have to get something new now, I'd rather have the scrambling ability than just the detection, cause like nick said above you get hit with a laser or a radar over a hill or similiar and u have no time to slow down your already hit.

The phantom, like the complete line of "passive jammer" products from Rocky Mountain Radar is a scam. Do a quick search on sites that are note selling the product, or check out radartest.com. They opened it up and found out that it had "just enough electronics inside to make the lights blink," and worse, aside from the product not actually jamming anything, the antenna made the vehicle easier to detect via radar. Further, if you read their speeding ticket guarantee, the fine print says something like they only pay if the ticket was for less than 10% over the posted speed limit.

Passive radar jamming is simply false – it does not work. Active radar jamming works but is illegal (and I don’t think anyone has every built a Ka unit anyway). Your best bet is to just pick up a good V1 or Escort. For some extra $$, you can spring for a laser jammer – those actually work (when from a reputable company). I did this and am very happy with the purchase.

Valentine has saved me multiple times now. The only problem I've found is the lack of space to put it in the Box it is visible to cops out the back window. I bought a conceal display and have yet to install it but, that should take care of that problem. I know where they are but, they see it in the window and follow me. It happened on my way to lunch the other day and on the way back to work. I don't know if they think I'm just going to jam on the gas when I know they're behind me or what...

Beltronics RX65 for me. Virtually the same guts as the Escort 8500, without the price (Beltronics is owned by Escort). I, too, turned off the X band; not needed in my part of the country. Excellent Ka and POP (laser)...saved me from the Wisconsin State troopers numerous times.

I went with the Escort SRX. Excellent system. The "shifter" definitely works.
