What Would You Do?

If you had $120,000 to spend on a car. Id get a 911TT hands down. Butttt, An 06 ZO6 with the lingenfelter twin turbo package sure would make it a hard decision for me. 800HP, 0-60 in under 2 seconds and 136 MPH in the quarter. Dang......

buy a house with a cheap car in a garage, and keep the boxster...hehehe

but that is a lot of dough for a car.

who knows how much that thing is worth now that he passed away

A new Boxster and a Lotus Elise and save the rest for when I learn how to tame the Elise on the track then I will turbo it! Gosh Elises are such an awesome car,by no means is it meant for daily driving though, hence a new Boxster(I would keep my current one as well).

I find it amazing how you guys think a $120K is alot for a car. Even with the exchange rate (roughly .77c) that equates to approx $155K AUS. I know why.....but I still find it strange to hear

$150K buys us a Boxster S (New).......thats it!

So when asked what what car I'd buy for $120K, answer is...... the car I have

I feel for ya

FIG,

Sorry to hear that my friend... I came to the US from Holland, and with all the extra environmental taxes etc., a Porsche there costs about twice what it costs in the US.

$120K for a car... hmm... what would I get. I have no desire to jet to 60 MPH in 2 seconds and then lose it in the corner...

I'd probably keep on savinf and go for an F430

Surprised no one said 996 gt2

I'd get a 996 gt2

Or a 997 gt3...

But the 997 turbo would run you well over 120 grand unfortunately.

Ferraris are not expensive because of their speed or performance, they're expensive because of their exclusivity and limited production. Not worth it to me personally.

It is an interesting question. If the rules are that you can only spend up to $120k on ONE car, and that has to be your daily driver, I would have to say I would go with a heavily optioned new C4S.

However, if we are talking about spending up to $120k for an extra vehicle for weekends and track day and I get to keep my Box for daily driving, I would probably pick up a Countach.

Ferraris are not as small a production as many people think. Lambo (bankrupt at one point) by comparision truly is a very small production I think they have never produced more than 700 units of any one otheir cars TOTAL. Ferrari by contrast produce that many units of a particular model in a single year.

Anyhoo if I had unlimited funds I would drive a Ferrari every day of the week. Who cares about the $30,000 brake job when you've got that kind of dough.
I'd drive that thing everywhere, I'd park right in front of the 7-11 just as if it were a civic.

I didn't realize you can buy used Ferrari's so cheap. Found a nice low mileage 355 autotrader for $73k. Not bad. Also, for the comment earlier on not being fast, from what i can find this 1995 F355 gets to 60 in 4.7 seconds - no complaints from me on that.

Here's the link to the one on autotrader:

yep, my buddy bought his 348 Challenge car several years ago for about $80k. It was all set for the track - roll cage, slicks, the whole works.

Very reasonable to purchase. God help you if you have to repair it though. We thought our cars were expensive...

My friend's car proved to be reliable - he and his brother beat the crap out of it on a regular basis at the track and had no major problems.

This belongs to a guy from my PCA Chapter. I'd probably try to buy it from him. It has highly modified modern 3.6 power. It's a monster.
