Fuel injector help needed

I’ve read through most of the posts on this subject and thought I would get the group’s opinion. I have a 2.7L 5 chain engine out of a 01 Boxster going in a 1999 replacing a 2.5L. I have kept the original intake crossover and used it as the front so that I could retain the cable driven throttle body. For the fuel rail I used a 3.4L rail because it bolts up directly and is a return type. What fuel injector do you recommend? Still running the stock computer with no tune (yet). I don’t think I can run the 2.7l as they go on a returnless system. That leaves me with the 2.5 (no specs found) or the 3.4 injectors? What is your opinion?

The injectors on the rail from the 3.4 should work fine.
The injectors from the 2001 should work fine too.
The change to the non-return fuel system occurred in the 2002 model year. Injectors should be the same as 2000 & 2001 except for the second notch missing on the later injectors. The main difference is that the fuel pressure regulator is in the tank as part of the fuel sender unit rather than at the rail on the engine.

Ike84 did an interesting thing a few years back: https://986forum.com/forums/diy-project-guides/80079-986-2-injector-retrofit.html

originals were 0280150455
replacements are 0280156053
I ordered another set of the replacements going to try those. I'll keep you posted.

Did find this interesting when searching for injectors for a 99 Boxster. Yes, I know, it's Amazon and their cross and is probably highly inaccurate but still worth asking. Is this true? Has anyone tried it?

Since the 2.7l is variocam plus, what dme are you going to use to get it to run? The one from the 2.7l car? If so, does that work with the return style injectors and cable throttle??

There is a good article from Pelican Parts

It’s a 5 chain engine. (Regular variocam). It will run on the 2.5’s DME. I eliminated the rear crossover flap in the intake and used the 2.5’s wiring harness and the 2.5’s intake crossover and throttle body so I could use the cable. The fuel rail, I can’t remember what it came from either a 2.7 return type or a 3.2 or 3.4. It was 2 years ago and I tried so many different rail setups. Finally got one that worked off of a member of this forum and traded for my 2.7 returnless rail. That is the reason for the original question. When the engine was installed, I was dumping fuel on bank 2. Didn’t know if the slightly increased flow rate was the reason and all indications are that it is not. I ordered a set of new injectors and will swap out after the holidays so that I have a known good (I built a setup to flow check) to proceed with my troubleshooting. The only other thing I had to do was swap the coolant temp sensor. Basically the DME thinks it is a 2.5. It should easily compensate for the slightly increased displacement until I get it sorted. I have most of this on video if you are curious. I am not trolling for views as my videos are far from being monetized. Just did this to help a little and to have a video record of the process I followed. Chanel is here: https://youtube.com/@branchoffice1327?si=yYWvNy-YvCZwxGTH
