Upgraded wiper / turn signal switches

Is there any such thing available?

Mine are not feeling that great and while I was at my used parts supplier I could test a couple of them. Some were even worse than mine, but even the best didn't feel like a quality switch. Also while talking to him it was obvious that these mechanisms wear out and fail. By the feeling of the different ones I'd think mine is about half way into failing.

My issue in general with these switches / stalks is that they feel incredibly cheap. On activating the stalk, the plastic stalk itself deforms before the contact is made and that just doesn't feel like a quality part.

So I was wondering, with quite a lot of commonality with the VAG group cars (Audi etc), is there any replacement / upgraded part known to work?

I have to take the whole stuff apart as my ignition lock has just completely failed, so would be a good time to look at this (and the steering wheel, see my other post, as the horn fails).

Sadly, what you see is what you get.

We owned a B5.5 Passat (an 02, so a year older than my 986) for many years, and the VW/Audi switchgear was orders of magnitude better, in terms of feel, than what is in the Boxster.
