Removing shift knob from a 1998 986?

I've read that to remove the shift knob on the early 986s, all you do is pull up on it firmly?

Is it really this easy?

Don't want to muck it up, so just checking to see if it is that easy and if there are any tricks.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Basically yes, just be careful to not smack yourself in the face doing so.

Yep. You really have to pull though. You’ll think, “no way is this thing coming off” right before you smack yourself in the face.

To work safely, this can also be done with a chain hoist through an opening in the roof. SCNR
