Windows won’t roll down

Strange issue I noticed today on my 2002 Boxster. Neither window will go down.

Back story is that I was having an issue with the driver side window not dropping when opening the door so I replaced the door latch mechanism on Saturday. Window would drop at that point, but the door locks would not operate. I also that day fixed the missing foam issue by removing the radio and cutting the duct. Reassembled and all was well, except the door locks, but the windows were going down.

Didn’t drive the car again until today. Went to work where it sat all day, got in the car to leave and put the top down and found that the windows would not roll down. Also noticed that the lock, top and defrost buttons were not lit up though the window switches were lit up with headlights on.

So now I cannot roll the windows down, but they move up and down when the doors are opened. I have no working locks through the button in the car or with the key fob.

Any ideas?

Check your immobilizer under the driver's seat for moisture or corrosion. Mine had a few of the same symptoms and a corroded immobilizer was the problem.

It can be the corrosion, rust. I faced this problem before, then I made up my mind to fix this trouble. One of my friends told me more about Rust rush remover: Auto Heaven’s must-have product to protect your vehicle, that could be the best way. Happy to help!!

Check your C3 15amp fuse.

Mine has the same issue. I haven’t gone into finding where the short is, but it blows that fuse periodically. I keep spares in the car, though smm in marines h th e spare will blow as soon as it makes contact. I’m sure I have a short in the drivers door, probably involving the aftermarket lighted door sills.

Anyway, check that fuse.

Does your remote work to lock and unlock the doors?
Do interior lights like the dome light come on when you open the door?
Do the windows drop a couple of inches when you unlatch the top release to lower the roof?
