Help me ID this sensor!
2 Attachment(s)
I have a hunch I have an oil leak from a sensor on the right side of my 2003 2.7 engine. I do not know what the sensor is for, and I need an o ring for it. It is located immediately behind the most rearward coil pack on the right side of engine, visible easily from the wheel well with the wheel removed. It has a retainer with 2 bolts holding it on, and what I presume is a groove for an o ring, mine had none installed. I added images of the sensor location, and the spot where I think the o ring should be, but I would love some help!

Mine was also leaking like crazy, I replaced it and leak was gone. It's the Variable Timing Solenoid Seal, really easy to replace:

I'm more concerned about that coil. It looks cooked to me, unless it's just dirt.

Piper, I honestly didn't even notice it, I will definitely check those out! Boxster in the sun, thanks for the part number and link as well, already ordered!

As mentioned it is the variocam solenoid seal . make sure you clean the solenoid thoroughly as the seal fits against the clean body of the solenoid to create the seal.
and yes you need a set of solenoids and plugs. also buy spark plug tubes ( cheap off rock auto ) and you will be set for the next few years. |
