Ran When Parked - Sudden issue starting
Hi
I have a 2001 Boxster S, that I have driven nearly 2500 miles this year since May. I parked it in my garage in November first week, and it is mid-December now. It did not start after that. At first I thought it was the battery, so I put it on a tender, fully charged the existing battery and tried again. No start, it cranks enough but does not start. All dash lights seem to work fine, and I am able to fold the convertible top back and forth. Today I decided to give in and replaced the battery with a new one. Same problem, no start only cranks. There are three issues I have now: 1) Car cranks and can keep cranking but does not start. Maybe it is the starter ? or the fuel pump ? or what else can it be ? 2) I checked the codes and I get a P0740. Is it the transmission torque converter that's preventing the restart ? What should I do ? 3) I try locking the car with the key remote and it tries it, then beeps twice and does not lock it. This is new behavior, since November, so I thought may have been the battery. But now even with a new battery, this happens. So I am confused as to what is causing this. Please advise. Thanks in Advance. |
The double beep when locking indicates a problem with the security system. Whether or not the immobilizer is preventing the car from starting, I can’t say. I’m not familiar enough with it to know if it blocks cranking or if it blocks fuel/ignition.
So that may be a path worth going down. |
I followed the advice on reset ignition thing from here
I closed the top and the windows closed up on their own. After a lot of cranking the car started up. I drove it 10 miles. I tested the AC/Heat and Radio works. However, I still see the following problems: 1) Window buttons do not function anymore. 2) Alarm system still does not function and beeps twice. What else can I try ? |
I figured it out. It was the 15 A fuse number C3 that was blown and needed replacing.
