Seeking Covertable Help

Hi

I'm trying to solve a convertible function issue. When closing the convertible the top gets nearly closed and then the motor reverses direction for a half beat then reverses again. I think the reversal happens when the convertible frame switch closes. Everything looks to be the right part number, in good shape and installed correctly. I'm wondering the relay is functioning correctly...

Anyone in the Tacoma Washington region willing to allow me to use your relay to test in my car?

Anyone else had this type of issue? I can't seem to find a replicated occurrence. The pic attached shows where the motor reversal happens

Thanks
Joe

Could you fix that first please?

Did it work before you swapped parts?
Long shot, but it could be the microswitch inside the planetary gear. https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Boxster_Tech/BODY_Convertible_Top_Gear_Replacement/BODY_Convertible_Top_Gear_Replacement.htm

The top has never worked under my ownership (3 months and counting). When I got the car all of the motion related drive mechanisms were in a box in the trunk. I've re-installed everything and gotten it function 98% correctly. Its this last 'closing' function that trouble some.

This is the 97-99 version. There aren't any switches in convertible transmission.

btw, that location you circled is as designed, just look extra curvy based on the photo angle.

There is a table with what the motor with do based on the micro-switch states. Can't find it but will look for it. Seems like the switch for the clamshell it being depressed before the top closes? Perhaps the arm for from the transmission to the top needs to be extended? I'd disconnect the arms for the shell and carefully try to shut the top (making sure not to drive the transmissions too far).
