Window Drop Troubleshooting

My first post, so hopefully it's not too basic. Recently purchased a 2000 Boxster (base) and am thoroughly enjoying it despite some troubleshooting :)

My windows stopped going down a few inches when opening the doors. Searched here and on RL, one question ... the windows don't drop when opening the roof or when the roof is in the up position and I try opening the door.

It sounds like the roof switch, but would a bad roof switch also cause the windows not to drop when opening the door handle (both doors)?

Whatever it is, it's affecting both windows (which were working last week), so that probably rules out door microswitches and window regulators/motors. The windows work fine using the up/down buttons, so assuming a fuse isn't the issue either.

Change out the roof switch and see what happens or any other tips? Thanks in advance!
