Odometer not working
Hello,
I'm Julio and I'm new to this forum. I hope everyone is doing well. Last year, I bought a 1997 Porsche Boxster 986 2.5 manual. The full cluster wasn't working, so I replaced it with a second-hand one I bought from eBay. The rear numbers matched exactly with the old one, and after installation, everything worked except for the odometer. Does anyone know if it's possible to fix this issue, or do I need to order a new cluster? Additionally, is there a way to determine the real mileage of the car? I tried using an OBD scanner but it didn't work. I appreciate your responses in advance. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1721277870.jpg |
If you are lucky it's just the bulb that lights up the left hand display. Not that difficult to fix, assuming you did the original cluster swap, just undo it and replace it. The bulbs are super cheap, just stay away from LED, I've not had good luck with them.
I think if you use a flashlight and shine it on the display you should be able to see if it's displaying anything, and if so then it's just the bulb. I don't know 100% if that is true though, just a thought. |
You can buy replacement lcd screens on eBay. Search for “986 cluster lcd”.
