Problem solved. I removed the seat's outer bolts and loosened the inner bolts so that I could lean the seat over enough to access the seat control panel. I carefully removed the panel and discovered that the wimpy little rocker switch that controls the tilt of the seat back wasn't seated properly. After correcting the problem I put everything back together and crossed my fingers that nothing else would go wrong.

Excellent. Enjoy your road trip!
