P car prices are a fallin! Manhattan Porsche in NYC unloaded a GT3 recently with Carbon brakes($10K rotor bill!) CPO'd for $74K!!!
This tasty 911 TT a true exotic with less thank 40K miles can be had for the price of new Boxster or Cayman. Incredible...wtf???
slap an extended warranty on this bad boy and your good to go for another 35K miles. If your going to go 911 get a big power 911!!

maybe in 4 more years i can afford to get one at that price.

not sure I would touch an out of warranty (any kind of warranty) turbo Porsche.
Good track record so far but I'd hate to replace a $30K engine.
in four years I'm thinking this 02 Turbo will probably go for low 40's and stay there.
Hard to imagine a once $100K car selling for less than an new infinity SUV.

I almost bought my Boxster from these guys. Pretty sweet 996.

Considering the better reliability of the Turbo/GT3 engines (stemming from the robust 993 engines) I would definitely pick the 996 TT over the supercharged 997. There's no way the SC 997 is still under Porsche warranty.

the GT1 block on the GT3 and Turbo's is the 964 Race Block--True dry sump, everything stays lubricated under all loads long. and lateral.
They do a much better job at hard driving than the 997 and 996 Carreras which
are not true dry sump.
Takes a load of worry off when autox'ing and tracking.

The prices maybe falling for 996 TT but the maintenance and insurance is not cheap.
This is my second 01 996 Turbo with 25k miles and I already spent 10k in less then 1 year. From rotors to oil changes is very costly.
Its also a gas guzzler...
Although the fun factor and boost ego will outweight the cost!

Just curious. Why would the 996TT be more expensive to maintain than, say, a Boxster S? Labor should be the same (if not better for the TT, because of better access to the engine) and parts should be in the same ballpark.

you had to replace the rotors before 30,000 miles? the steel ones?

That car has been beaten. This is EVO's first 997 and got driven by everyone and their mother, several magazines and who knows who else. I saw it early in its life and got a ride in it. No way would you get any kind of engine or drivetrain warranty unless EVO offered it.

Not ragged out, but well used.

How was it? The ride, I mean. Money being no object, if I were to build a 997, I'd do something very similar. Color and all.

There are more cars than you think that go from 100k next to nothing. My daily driver is a 1997 S500 Mercedes Benz. It was bought brand new out of the show room February 1997 for $109K. This past January we went to pick up a 2007 S550 and figured we would trade the 1997 in. The car had been with us from day one and figured it was time to give it the boot. The dealers whopping offer for a car that they sold 9years ago for $109K was $6,500! Blue Book on that car is somewhere between 9k-13k.

I'm sure the turbo will have better resale value after 10years but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it hit below 30K.

Cars are not Investments by any means. The way I look at it is even if u bought a car for 100K and 10years later its still worth 100K you still lost money on it. That’s a 100K that could be sitting in a MMA making 4.5%+ in the bank over a 10 year period. In 10years that car lost $45,000. Buy a car for a form of enjoyment not investment.
