Painting Hard Top
Does anyone know how much it would cost to paint a hard top to match car color? Pros and cons?

If done correctly, there shouldnt be any cons at all.
Granted, I have never inspected one up close to determine if there are alot of gaskets and such that cannot be removed for painting and reinstalled. It would take basically disassembling the top of any moldings or gaskets and prepping the surface. Once prepped, new color build primers would be sprayed followed by base coat and clear. I would think a shop would charge 12 to 16 hours labor for this and pricing at 45.00 per hour...average in my area would be 850.00 plus or minus a hundred... Just go to a shop that has a good reputation and will warranty the job against clear coat failure etc. Best of luck! |
I had a quote for $750.00 for mine. They planned to remove the two rubber strips that run from front to back on either side, and replace. It seemed, and still seems really HIGH to me. Bottom line, if it's NOT done right, it shows, so err on the side of finding a HIGH quality and reputable autobody/ painting shop.
