Tire questions.

Hey guys, I'm getting the nail out of my tire next week and getting it patched up. Is this going to affect the durability of the tire? Does it increase the chance of failure by a substantial margin? I don't want a 125mph blow out! Also, what is a good PSI to run for all around good performance? BTW, they are michelin pilot sports.

From what I've seen posted here and elsewhere, so long as you are getting the tire properly "patched" from the inside then there should be no issue with the tire. However, see http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/general/punctures.htm which seems to imply that there is sufficient question about patched tires being suitable for track events (high speed driving). Now of course, they just happen to sell new tires...

On the tire inflation side, see an earlier thread on this at http://www.986forum.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=115
