What's with the PINK coolant???

Is Porsche trying to make the Boxster a woman's Porsche?

I had to replace the water pump last night since it died over the weekend. I don't have enough time to drain and flush the system to use regular aluminum engine coolant so I go by the dealership and pick up the Porsche stuff. After the pump is in, I go to top off the coolant and it's Pepto Bismol pink.

So, is the pink Porsche coolant the same formula as the green Porsche coolant with just a different dye? I'm hoping they are the same formula so I don't have to flush out the system.

you know what i used to have this problem with my van. the gas stations only sell green, and my dealer only sells pink. so i once added the green to the pink....i was told that i was not suppose to mix colours by my dealer. i don't know why in that post on renntech it says that you can mix colours.

call the dealer is the best option. you'll get various answers from here and there.

I've asked my dealer the same question regarding the pink and green. Word from them is, that you can mix them together. The caveat, of course, is that they have to be both OEM Porsche coolant.

Thanks for the info Tool Pants. I'll eventually be flushing and going to the Texaco stuff that's safe for the P-car when I get a chance to do the full deal.
