How to dull-up chrome..?

Just out of curiosity -- is it possible to turn some chrome wheels into looking... eh... less pimpy, as in transforming them to a more plain aluminum look? I.e, is there something I can rub on that makes them less shiny, or am I stuck with this glitter..?

you could polish them with a heavier grit compound, but ultimately it would be best to have them bead-blasted and then powder coated or painted in your color of choice.

Do you still want a chrome look? If not just get another set of wheels.
