03 bumper on a 97?

I do not really like the looks of the GT2, GT3 or the Turbo bumpers. However, I do like the looks of the 2003 stock bumper for the boxster. Anyone know if it will bolt on directly and fit properly on my 1997?

Front Bumper is a direct bold on with no mods. The rear reqires a few extra pieces.

Cool. So does anyone know where I can get a 2003 bumper in good condition? :D

Randall are you looking for a new or used one? For a new one I would check with DPS Parts. They usually have pretty good prices on that stuff. I got my GT3 bumper from them.

If you're looking for a used one, I had great luck with LA Porsche Dismantlers. They shipped me a nice 996 bumper in primer for $250 plus shipping. Delivery was very fast as well.

careful those guys have just as many bad reviews as good reviews. Seems like they are really bad at sending out the right part unless its a big, hard to confuse item. Do a search on Rennlist and you'll see lots of opines.

I guess its not to hard to see a 996 bumper and pair it up with the order form.

Hi,

I've bought 2 items from them and they're batting .500. I got a 4-stalk column switch for the OBC Hack which was great - came with all the trim and everything for $100 incl. S/H. I removed the 4th stalk (it's the only stalk which screws onto the rest of the unit), added it to my existing 3-stalk switch and sold the rest on eBay for $125 + S/H.

But, I also bought a 3-spoke sport steering wheel from them which they claimed was flawless, As New condition. It was so badly scraped and the center crest so scratched that I returned it, after some hassling, they agreed to pick-up return shipping because the item was mis-represented (I had to send them a pic as proof!). Then, I had to reverse the charge on my Diner's Club Card because 45 days later, LA Dismantlers still hadn't credited my card. So, yea, they can be good, but as I found out, also sometimes a little iffy...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

I just got off of the phone with them and they said the lowest they would sell me a 99-02' primed 996 bumper was for $400.

Blink, that's good to know. I had looked at some $950-1200 bumpers and thought that it was just too much cash to part with for a bumper I really didn't need. $400 sounds a lot better.

Wow! You're right. Their price has gone up huge in the last two months!

I just looked on ebay and there are a couple of used 996 bumpers there for under $200. Ask good questions though, because I bought one from a guy in Miami that was junk.
