PCM 1.0 Blank Screen Repair
 

I have a retro fitted PCM 1 fitted to a 1998 Boxster. This was fine for a while, but recently the display has gone blank even through the radio still works - so it still functions. I have disconnected the battery, and turned it back on again - but it remains blank. The backlight is on, so I assume this is either the LCD or a display component?

Has anyone had something similar and has been able to rectify it?

No idea if it can be fixed but I just installed a HU from AliExpresswith Android and CarPlay. I love it. You can read my review on the linked page:

Quick couple of questions;

- what made you go for the specific "Color: 7862 256G Carplay LT" model?
- the wiring photo didn't look that plug and play. Were there extra changes needed?
- Did the anti tamper sensor still work okay?

I am not sure why they list a color, China, lost in translation maybe? It only comes in one color. I got the 8gb/256gb version. It wasn’t that much more and I always figure you can never have too much memory.

I have a stock wiring harness, no changes were needed. I did have to modify the surround with a dremel which was easy to do.

No issues with that, but I was replacing another non OEM single DIN HU. I do not think there would be a problem.

After several weeks of driving with this unit, I am still very pleased with the functionality and quality of the unit.

I'm getting the PCM1 unit assessed for repair. If it doesn't make financial sense, then I'll be picking one of these up. :)
