Keeping Bose amp with new radio

I am replacing my stock radio head unit with an Atoto android unit. I have a 2002 Boxster S (without the MOST connection). The existing unit has roughly the middle third of the display dead and I don't listen to CDs or cassettes.

It looks like using the Bose amp and speakers is not a problem with a new head unit. I saw a post somewhere (that I can no longer find) about changing the Bose/sub-woofer settings with the existing the radio before adding a new one. Something about levels being retained and then being out of alignment with a new unit. Has anyone wired in a new head unit while keeping their Bose amp and speakers. Did you have to do anything like that before disconnecting the old unit? Happy for any advice and experience that can be shared for doing this.
