Door Wiring

Hello, I noticed on the driver's side (LHD car) that there is a gap in the wiring for the door. Is this a rubber boot or an electrical connector? If it is an electrical connector, do you think the latching mechanism is broken? How do I resolve this? Seeing as there are airbags in the door, I assume that I should disconnect the battery before touching this?

My car is currently in the body shop but when I get it back I will try and document the process of removing and installing this connector with pictures.
  • Disconnect the battery and wait the appropriate time to make sure the airbag system isn't charged
  • Remove the torx bit at the bottom of the connector (you may need to remove the arm that limits how far the door will swing in order to get better access)
  • Slide the connector up to remove
  • Installation is simply the reverse order

My guess is this is why my door speaker on this side isn't working, but will soon find out.

I would appreciate pics on how to disassemble this connector. It is a mystery to me. Thanks!

I have similar problem, but I do not see any obvious problems.
Airbag light without obvious reason (lost communication...) non working controls for the left mirror (it is not the switch as the motors work OK - I checked manually).
