Yeah, a little hit and run action. The car was parked when it happened. Judging by the damage and the area we were visiting, I suspect a redneck with a trailer hitch.

boggtown 11-26-2006 06:33 PM

Ouch. Bad karma for them, but they are hicks, so they already have it pretty crappy.

Costs should be significantly lower in the next two years assuming I decide to keep it, because I have no more mods/upgrades I wish to do...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

I'll see the car for the first time [ever] next week. I really hope I like this car. I could have bought a 2000 911 for the price I've paid so far. AND, I still need to get wheels and tires! (Performance mods will come later)

I will post pics asap.

Hi,

Supplies were the VW Sourced Motron connectors, wire, face cap for the stalk (original was kinda beat).

The Euro Turn Indicator Hack is a simple Hack which allow the Side Markers to flash in opposition to the Turn Indicators on a turn when the Headlamps are off, and in unison with them when the Head Lamps are on. Really just spicing into the Turn Indicator circuit and routing it to the Side Marker Ground wires. Maybe a 20 min. Hack. PM me if you want instructions. Reply will take awhile because I'm at the LV airport (2 Hr. mechanical delay) and we should be boarding shortly. Won't get into Mpls. 'til around 6pm CST...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

I paid 20K for a 1 owner sweetie that looked and drove like new with perfect history. I browsed for 3 months, drove a half dozen cars and bought this one.
Added a windstop, gladly paid a local mechanic to replace the stupid cracked poly coolant tank because the job really looked like a PITA and life is too short. 15k service, CEL (cleaned MAF) A-ok... About $1300 so far.

Planned future mods: Asphault sucking apex leaches ( nice big fat sticky tires).

Ok, I think you win Kelvin :)

Bavarian Motorist 12-02-2006 04:56 PM

I haven't paid anything yet for mine (obviously) but just to comment on what some people have said, I absolutely love mine. It's like a part of me already.

I can't believe how much attention I get from it also... Toll booth guy went on for at least 2min about how I looked so good in it and how if we hung out together, "we'd get all the girls.

I'm so not used to this.

David N. 12-03-2006 08:40 PM

Since buying at the end of August..

$600 Replace CV boots (damaged from previous owner)
$1500 New Pilot Sport Tires + install (I think it came with the actual stock Conti's)
$55 Soft top cover off ebay
$70 Readjust parking brake cable
$10 Replace worn radio knob
$15 Replace engine compartment fan relay (D.I.Y.)
$12 Replace transmission cooling scoops (D.I.Y)
$300 Two trips to International Detail
$100 Weekend washing materials

and preparing to purchase an extended warranty before the current CPO runs out.

so $2662 after 3 months before the new warranty. But hopefully this is it for awhile...right?

...right?

BTW Jim, I hope successfully selling your Boxster doesn't mean we'll lose your immensely thorough guidance here on 986forum.

Thumper 12-04-2006 10:50 AM

$26K to buy it a couple of years ago, $3K in maintenance and repairs, and I estimate that I've dumped another $3k to $4k in mods. Not counting future maintenance and repairs, I have probably another $3k to $4k of things I want to do to it over the next couple of years.
