2001 Boxster S 986 mod recommendations?
Hello, I am a new Porsche owner and I would like to have cheap mod recommendations for my budget Porsche project.
|
You don't say what your goal is other than cheap, so Here's a few links and you can figure out what you like.
Neil made some great short videos of his mods and maintenance Here's a link to the threads he started: 986 Forum - The Community for Porsche Boxster & Cayman Owners - Search Results Geraint did some really nice appearance mods & work on his '03: http://986forum.com/forums/show-tell-gallery/59983-gers-2003-porsche-boxster-s.html James made some good videos of his mods for performance and track while he had his 986s: https://www.youtube.com/@NewArt1/videos?view=0&sort=dd&shelf_id=0 Of course there's many more, but that's a good start. |
Keep it original and enjoy it - there is no such thing as a cheap mod that is going to give you a noticeable power increase.

Cheap and budget are two words that don't normally go with Porsche and project.
I've done a good 6-8 986 "projects". Nothing was cheap or budget. Good luck and show us what you're doing! |
While you can definitely spend a ton of money on gaining 5 hp, you can do far more with fewer $. You just need to think outside the box...
This forum is a great resource for ideas. You just need to do the homework. Here's an example - https://986forum.com/forums/diy-project-guides/79420-82-mm-throttle-body.html. Custom mods are an expression of ourselves and start with a vision for our cars. Make it unique, make it yours, have fun with it, and drive the **************** out of it.
