I made the mistake of telling my wife about that feature.

She got that gleam in her eye.

Oh well it is one hell of a car.

A polar opposite of the Boxster. hmm, maybe in black.

djomlas 11-19-2006 03:02 PM

try contacting this guy, maybe he can make u a :kit: so that u can stick it on the box and tell ur wife that u got the same option :)

LOL

I did pull up the Lexus site. The parking feature is only available on the 460L, the stretched wheelbase model.

The gleam in her eye went away rather quickly when she saw the price, right at 80K w/o going nuts on the options.

Holy crap, it should not only park itself, it should come with a robot driver at that price.

Actually in todays world of 60 and 70 k Boxsters, it probably represents decent value, all things considered.

The new 460 is getting rave reviews in the automotive press.

I love my Lexus GS300 for what it is, an appliance on wheels. It's a perfect work car for me, comfortable, good economy, prestige factor, and it don't break. Mine was built in 97, looks the same as the 05 model. Most people think it's new or close to it. Perfect car for a sales guy like me.

Rick,

Looks like you can pick up the LS460 for $61k ( non L ) and add :

Navigation / Advanced Parking Guidance System - $3,815

Intuitive Parking Assist - $500

http://www.lexus.com/models/LS/features/pricing.html#disclaimer_3

And make the wife happy for $65k !

Nick

wow thats really not an expencive option if u think about it...with so many people completely clueless when it comes to prallel parking.

TriGem2k 11-20-2006 10:36 AM

My uncle just recently picked one up and he brought it to dinner last night....Its AMAZING. We have a 2001 LS 430 and it just does not compare. The car is SILENT, soo smooth, and yeah it freakin parks itself. Anyone thinking of buying a Mercedes or BMW should think twice. Our 2007 S550 at a price tag of $110K looks like POS next to the Lexus.

DAMN those Japanese make good cars.

ricklin 11-21-2006 05:48 AM

Nickcats,

Shhh..... Don't tell her. Thanks for the link, I went through the configurator and it looked to me like you had to get the L to get that feature. Looks like you could order a car and get it on the standard wheelbase model.

I like this car a lot.

The japanese have a great formula for their cars. Let the Germans or the Americans develop the technologies, copy and refine the technologies, and then try to make the consumer believe that they invented the technology.

Interesting that the parking assist appears to be "their" baby, and not a knock off technology.

No surprise there, Toyota will soon be the number 1 car company in the world, their products have evolved far beyond what I outlined above.

Now, can they move beyond appliance to driving machine?
