Smell coming from cabin heater
 

Originally I thought I had driven past a factory as I smelt this strange odour after about 10 minutes of driving. It's not a strong smell, however for the next 3 drives, it was there again. If I turn the cabin fan off, no problem.

It's not a burnt wiring smell but something like that. Its not a dead animal or leaves smell.

Any suggestions ?

So you searched every nook and cranny with a foldable mirror and flashlight to determine there's no dead animal?

The only way I knew I had a rodent in my dash was when it took two, yes two, mousetraps with him up under my dash. One fell out when searching for him. The other, small wooden, trap remains buried up under the dash somewhere.

You'll know if there's a rodent in there in just another couple/few days. I hope it isn't. It took me more than several patient hours to find mine. Th stink was worse than an episode (I'm assuming" of the Kardashians.

It's a slight smell. Not a dead rodent. Maybe a radiator fluid leak onto something hot. I sometimes even question if it is there but next time I drive, after 10 min I smell it again.

Not to sure how easy it is to access the cabin fan.

Check for leaks under passenger carpet. When heater core starts failing, it leaks in the cabin. My cabin smelled like coolant when it failed.

I'm assuming you checked your coolant level.
