Security System Computer

I have a '99 Boxster that got a little wet here in the floods of the Northwest. Security system went in to lockdown. Dealer says $3000 to fix it, but there's gotta be another way. Any ideas???? Apparently, Porsche security is proprietary and no one else can work on them, creating a perfect environment for gouging. Is driving through a small puddle really going to cost me 15% of the value of my car?

Can you get your car insurance to pay for the repair? If you have water damage...maybe.

Insurance said no, might press them on it later, looking for options.

What parts got "wet"? Possibly you can purchase parts, at a savings, from; www.sunsetporsche or www.suncoastporsche and have the dealership do the work or a qualified Porsche mechanic in your area.

The carpet around the unit got saturated, but there was never standing water touching the unit itself, just a very wet, cold and humid atmosphere, therefore some condensation.

Hi,

Sorry, you're screwed. The Unit shorted out and must be replaced, not a chip, the whole Unit...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
