Front Truck Release

I got another weird one. When I went to open the front truck I heard the typical "click" but the hood didn't actually release. This happened both when I used the key fob and the switch by the seat. I tried several times with both and it wouldn't release. Odd thing is it worked 20 minutes earlier when I put something in there. I was able to open it using the pull cable but any ideas why the electric release didn't work?

Tension on the cable?
Spring that should pop the deck is worn?
If you hear the click, it means the actuator works.

Maybe the lock needs adjustment?

There are two parts to the release mechanism, an electric motor driven release rod and the actual latch assembly. It could be a problem with either part but since the manual cable worked I would surmise it is the electric release portion. Age related issues could weaken parts of both the electric or mechanical latch components. I recently replaced the latch portion of mine when it failed to release although the electric part was fine. The issue was a fatigued spring and lever on the latch. The latch is 99651105303 and the electric portion is 99651112700. This was for my 2003 S, not sure of your year but I suspect the parts are the same.

Have you tried pushing the button and the hood with the palm of your hand at the same time ?

The latch and electric actuator are easy to replace.
If it's getting bad, I strongly suggest replacing the bad part ASAP
While there is a manual release cable, it can be difficult to find and sometimes doesn't work.
I know this from experience:mad:

The actuators will crap out, not an uncommon issue. Once the frunk is open it’ll be behind the carpet and goes through the tub to the latch.
