Here's the best arrangement: 1. Driver's side hump facing to the rear on the driver's side of the trunk. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1658537164.jpg 2. Cover with half of the moving blanket. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1658537288.jpg 3. Passenger side on top facing forward. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1658537443.jpg I placed the other half of the moving blanket on the top of the passenger side hump. After arranging them this way and checking for clearance, I summoned my courage and closed the trunk lid. There was no contact with the humps. I have some additional observations from the video last night: a. The OEM storage bags are more elegant than my $3.99 Harbor Freight moving blanket. b. It appears that I can use the center wind deflector with the humps installed. c. I need to keep some white cotton gloves in the car for use when I handle the humps. d. I need to practice so that I can store the humps quickly in the event of a sudden storm. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. |
Eventually I will get around to confirming Bran’s information on storage. My car is kept in thengarage with the humps on. My humps are pretty much always on.

I see you are from North Carolina, and I expect your weather is similar to what we experience in Central VA. There are many days that start with great top-down weather and end with a thunderstorm or high temperatures. I'm planning to use the humps frequently, but I need to be sure I can react to weather changes. When I owned a Miata, I had a tonneau cover that I used fairly frequently when I parked at work. (It gave the car a 1960's British sports car ambience.) One day we had an unexpected thunderstorm and the tonneau proved to be less than 100% waterproof. It took a couple of days to totally dry out the interior. Fortunately, the Miata didn't have an immobilizer or any other complex electronics under the seats. I'm certain I don't want a similar experience with the Boxster. |
