No throttle response, then CEL(Finally the Codes!!)
So, after parking I start to back up and only get idle speed, no throttle response at all.
I limp to the side of the road at idle, then the CEL comes on and I see "Check Engine Drive to Shop"
Any clues if it could be something Iike a snapped throttle cable? No code reader yet, so I'm
asking for any advice before it goes to the shop, which I was hoping to avoid.

Update.....
Took car to dealer, they came up with these codes....
P-102 MAF Sensor
P-0121 Accelerator Potentiometer (usually in conjunction with P-1121 &P-1122)
P-1139 Throttle Position Sensor.
The local PORSCHE DEALER, checked the codes..
supposedly replaced the MAF sensor with a super pricey OEM one.
At first they said it ran but choppy throttle, they wanted time to check more deeply.
Then two days later they said the MAF didn't work, still dead throttle, and went right to the DME
being faulty. Overlooked completely the throttle position sensor. I told them no thanks picked up the car and low and behold, NO dead throttle! It drives but choppy like a bad Throttle Sensor!
To top it off, they left it totally empty of a 1/4 tank of fuel and only drove it a couple of miles.

There is no throttle cable. It is E-gas or drive by wire.
Have you disconnected your battery or had a dead battery in the recent past????
Is it an automatic or a standard transmission???
Do you have throttle response in neutral or any forward gear???
Have you done any work on it in the recent past???

Thanks for the response.
Replaced battery 800 miles ago
Automatic transmission, and other throttle response in gear.
Nothing done recently except the battery.

If I understand your last post you have throttle response in forward gears...is that correct???
Whenever you disconnect your battery or have a dead battery you need to re-adapt
your E-gas (gas pedal). If you didn't re-adapt your E-gas pedal it could be the problem.
To re-adapt the e-gas park the car on a level surface.
Disconnect the battery for a few minutes.
Reconnect the battery.
Turn the key to the on position for at least 60 seconds. Do not start the car.
Do not touch the gas pedal.
Turn key to off position for at least 10 seconds.
Then start car and see if it fixed your issue.

No throttle response in any gear.
I will try what you mentioned though. Funny how it would happen like that.

Ok so no throttle response in any gear.
Just guessing without OBDII codes, could be any number of things.
Best to get to a shop.

1st, that is a standard obd port and any reader will connect.
However, a standard obd reader will NOT get transmission codes. You need a durametric, pwis, etc to read transmission codes.

Sweet Lord! I took thr car to dealer, they scanned the car, decided the MAF sensor had to be bad. ($900)
I had my doubts but they're the experts. They replaced it the car still won't go and they say it most now the engine control module is the culprit, ($2800!) and it seems they're still guessing! WTF!
Why can't they figure that crap put without throwing my money around?
To top it all off, they left me feeling time my car wasn't worth spending the money on!
Two weeks wasted.
So, assuming it is the Engine Control Module, do they really cost that much? I see prices all over the map.
Any help appreciated.

Your being taken.
Any shop that says you have no throttle response because of a bad MAF sensor is ripping you off.
The car will run with the MAF unplugged or no MAF at all and have throttle response.
They are robbing you plan and simple.

Dumb question.. but have you visually confirmed the throttle is opening/closing when pressing the pedal?

The throttle works fine now, with old sensor. It just runs like a bad MAF now interestingly. I have no idea how they got the throttle working. Thank goodness I knew better and left only paying for the codes and a MAF swap out, that I swear they only cleaned it.

When you take your car to a dealer or shop tell them you want any and all old parts they replace.
Tell them if you don't get the old parts they took off the car.
Your not paying for the parts they put on the car.
Makes them think a little bit before trying to screw you.
Better still learn to work on your own car so your not at the mercy of dishonest dealers or shops.

I did one better and had them reinstall the old part. Now it drives.

Asking for your "old parts" sometimes works but other times a dishonest shop will have old parts from other cars laying around and hand THOSE to you.
Typically dealers don't play that game for fear of their own mechanics "dropping a dime" on their employer if dismissed or laid off or just generally pissed off.
