Simple Battery Maintainer Recommendations?

We're taking a long vacation and my 2000 BS will parked and lonely for four weeks. I'd rather not have a dead battery when we get back.

Any suggestions for a decent battery maintainer (or warnings about bad ones)? I don't need anything fancy, just functional.

Porsche sells (or sold) rebranded CTEK battery maintainers, I have the 3300 which is the identical to the one Porsche used to sell as the Charge-o-mat, but that particular model appears to be discontinued.

4 weeks? Why spend anything, just disconnect the battery. You have a 2000 so the frunk is cable operated not electric.

Do you think an older battery will keep a charge that long if it isn’t connected? This one has maybe 1-2 years left, and older batteries don’t hold a charge as well.

So... just disconnect the battery cables and be done with it. Do you want to come back to a dead battery? Bet your answer is no. Disconnect.

Batteries begin losing their ability to keep a charge the moment you plug them into a car. Could your battery hold a charge for a month? Don't know. Disconnect.

I would say that any of the name brand "quality maintainers" would be fine. Battery Tender, Battery Minder or even the HD branded one (obviously made by another company)...all come to mind.

I plug mine into a maintainer all the time when it's in my garage. Old habits die hard, but it works for me.

Just make sure it's a float charger and not a trickle charger and you'll be fine

Just a follow-up: I just disconnected the battery and went on vacation for four weeks. It's a 5-year battery with 3-1/2 years on it, so I was a little concerned. Anyway, reconnected it and the Box started right up! Thanks for the tips!

Battery Tender Jr. is all you need. Simple and pretty cheap. I have been using this for 10 years and have only had to replace the battery once after 8 years.
