Decisions

Hello all. I'm new to the forum but I have a very important question. I've decided to get the boxster over the vette. The problem now is to "S "or not to "S". I want some power. I'm going for a slightly used version. The S will give me at least 250 bhp but it cost me more. I was thinking of getting the standard and maybe adding a supercharger or turbo. Anyone with any experience with this? How did it turn out, power output, reliability and prices. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I think your idea is a false economy. The Boxster engine can't reliably be boosted (IMHO) and it is very expensive. The right way to do it is to install the 3.4 engine from an early 996. This guy has done both (he blew up his booster 2.5) and has lots of information: http://www.trentcarter.com

I'd say get the S for a modest premium and enjoy. In a couple years Porsche will likely have a Boxster with the 300 hp we've been asking for all these years.

Yeah just save $$ and time, go for the S.

Thanks for the replies guys. That's what I needed to know. Time to go S hunting now.
