Smoke test Evap leak

mechanic doesn’t know the car very well did smoke test to find a small eve app leak on my 2002 Boxster S. At one point smoke appeared at the right rear bumper. He said he would have to remove the bumper to trace. Doesn’t seem to make sense. Any input appreciated

I'd recommend finding a solid Porsche mechanic. Guessing games prove costly.

I recently had my rear bumper cover and rear impact bar off. There's not much to see in the way of something that would be leaking during a smoke test. There could possibly be leaking from the exhaust in the bumper area or the smoke drifted there from the engine compartment. Either way finding someone who works on Boxsters is a good suggestion.
