New Boxster with Top Issues-Will this leak or can I live with it for awhile?
 

Just got a 2000 Boxster S and the top needs replacing but I'm wondering if any water that gets past here will drain through the drain channels or if it will flood the interior. Keep in mind I'm in Los Angeles so it's not an impending doom that you may think. But the car is dirty and I want to wash it.
I know there are drain trays under these points but how much water can they handle?

Or can I use some glue or tape to temporarily prolong the new top purchase? First convertible I've ever had and not familiar with them at all so forgive any dumb questions. Just wondering if there is anything to keep out water or if there are any products that you guys have used and had good luck with.

I would suggest opening the top and look down inside to see how much debris is in there first. Vacuum the big stuff out, then test the drains with a cup of water to see if they run clear. Otherwise, wash the rest of the car normally and sponge bath those two areas until you sort it out?

Agree with this. Make sure the drains are clear first. Easy to check.

Many thanks. I ordered the trombone cleaner but got bored before it arrived and decided to check the drains only to find the left side clogged and the right open. I ran a wire down it and poured water to flush it out, not really worrying too much because this is Los Angeles and we never get rain.
Cut to later that afternoon and I'm out driving with the top down. After picking up groceries, the sky turns dark and the clouds come in. But this is LA, it doesn't rain when it's warm. So I head home and as I hear thunder, rain begins to fall and we have an actual thunderstorm with pouring rain, lightening and thunder. Seriously, this never happens here! So thanks for the video as had I not cleaned out the drain, I would have had water flowing in and possibly damaging my computer.
And despite the roof issues, the water does drain adequately and doesn't cause problems by entering the interior.

Oh no, you need to keep the cabin bone dry. You'll get moisture condensation and that will ruin the computer module.
