Died on Highway
Well, technically the car didn't die. Engine revs fine. Clutch shouldn't be issue either, as it's only 18 months old...
It goes into gear, but won't move forward. I heard a pop sound - maybe I missed a shift?? - but I've missed shifts before over the years and never had this happen. It just won't move forward. Thoughts?? |
Shift cables at the transmission?

Were you shifting gears???? Pushing clutch pedal in??? So it will not move as you let the clutch out correct???? |
At least once a year someone on the Forum has their axle bolts come out or break. Check if the axles are still connected to the transmission.

When I got under my 2002 S for the first time the CV joint retaining bolts were so loose I was able to turn them with my fingers. I now get under the car remove the reinforcement plate and check all bolts every year.

Had an axle shaft break once . Goes nowhere.

+1 on the busted drive axle

Thanks, all! Sorry just logging back in here. Yep, it was the CV joint that came undone from the tranny - and it was JUST replaced - the mechanic who replaced it clearly didn't secure it properly. All resolved finally.
I'm assuming if one of the drive axles (there are 2 on the boxster) loses connection, the other does as well? Anyone know? |
