How Do You Value an Antique Car?

Hi Everyone:

I need help! My father has been very ill the past few months from Chemo treatments to become another cancer survivor.

He has a 1942 Cadillac Limousine, which needs to be sold. How do I go about determining the fair market value for this type of car?

Thank you! :)

Hope all goes well with your father.

This is what I found:
http://www.manheimgold.com

or you can search for similar cars to see what price range they are asking:

Hey Bill,

Send our best to your Dad. Brucelee hit your best options right on the head, with Hemmings Motor News being the most accurate and realistic of the bunch in terms of determining a real world price.

bmus,

So sorry to hear about your Dad.

My co-worker just sold his classic Caddy as well.

Let me know if you still need info and I will talk to him about pricing, selling, etc.

Best of luck to you and your family...

Nick

Classic cars are almost always valued entirely by comparision to the sales of other similar cars. Contact a professional vehicle appraiser for a written estimate.

Much like a professional home appraisal, you can use this to help set a realistic sales price and use the comparisions to support your price during negotiations. Anything else is just an opinion and not worth much. Expect to pay several hundered dollars for the service.

You could try Wayne Carini

Wayne handles all sorts of cars and if your Caddy is nice enough he might be able to assist you.

I know this is an old thread, but if anyone needs the info, there is a publication by Black Book, Cars of Particular Interest that is published 6 times a year and values most cars that people are still buying and selling.
