steering wheel emblem.
What is the best way to affix an emblem on the steering wheel? Thanks in advance.

Are you replacing a wheel crest or adding one to the 4-spoke wheel? If replacing, you need to disassemble the airbag unit and grind off the rivet affixing the crest to the wheel, somewhat complicated procedure. If adding one, the best thing is to use an adhesive like Liquid Nails after thoroughly cleaning the contact area with alcohol. Using double-sided tape will work, but usually make the crest stand too proud of the airbag, and double-sided tape may not afford the best adhesion. Hope this helps... Happy Motoring!... Jim'99 |
I used the double-sided tape that came with mine, has not fallen off yet in almost a year.

Thanks for the replies. I'm adding an emblem to the 4-spoke S. wheel.
What are liquid nails? Can you get them at Home Depot or other hardware stores? I appreciate your speedy and informative response.

Liquid nails Home Depot or Lowes

great mod for the 4 spoke wheel, that and chrome gauge rings really make over the interior.

The emblem protrudes about an eighth of an inch. |

I see someone put a link up for Liquid Nails. I doubt that you're gonna need a whole caulk tube of the stuff though. I use this product: http://www.liquidnails.com/ViewProductDetails.do?productId=47 Same stuff, but in a little more manageable container. Also, probably needless to say, but mount it above the cutline on the vinyl for the airbag. Hope this helps... Happy Motoring!... Jim'99 |
No, he needs the whole tube....or maybe it just to show him what it was. Whew, surprised I had to simplify that much.
