What is this part! It leaks coolant like a sieve! (2004 base)

So my 2004 started leaking coolant like a running garden hose.
I checked the obvious, water pump and coolant tank only to have to remove the rear wheel to
see this valve of sorts leaking. It's the one attached to the hose with the green tape.

What is it and what part number so I can source a replacement?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks!http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1623526280.jpg

I believe it to be this part #12 on this diagram I borrowed. Oil cooler valve?

Transmission cooler valve, "Disc valve".

Here it is at ECS tuning, looks like a cheaper aftermarket part, but I show the original no longer available at Pelican Parts. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-meyle-parts/disc-valve/92857457303~mey/

Ok, now does it control the water for the cooler or the heater only car? Can I delete it and use the car until the part is sourced?

I think the new part number is 928-574-573-04 and Pelican does have this version.

That valve controls circulation of coolant for the transmission. If you use your car before you install a replacement, you risk damaging the transmission if it overheats.

If it was my car and I needed to drive it, I would temporarily remove the valve from the system and replace it with tubing or hose so that the coolant would circulate freely.

Ok, epilogue to this project.....
Sourced valve locally at foreign car shop for $40. (Always check local first, saved me$)
Removal required the tube to be undone at cooler, and I removed one clamp, and took the rubber tube, valve, and metal tube out as one unit. A lot of working blind, and limited room. Do not attempt this front the top of the engine, you'll break tubing.

Mine broke in half on a nice mountain road trip but was able to coast to the bottom which then resulted in a tow home. It was a real pain to replace.

One of these went on my wife's Cayman. Leaked coolant as fast as I could pour it in.

You may notice that it is a 928 part.

Just sayin'.........
